Keeping Everyone Safe: Fire Safety Month at Athy FETC

Let's talk about something that matters to every single person in our building - safety! This month, we're updating our fire safety procedures, and while it might not be as exciting as learning new skills, it's absolutely essential for keeping our wonderful learning community safe.

What's Happening This Month? Our dedicated Fire Wardens are getting a refresh on their training, ensuring they're up to date with the latest safety procedures. You'll spot them easily in their high-vis vests during drills - they're the ones keeping us all organised and safe!

Fire Drills: Yes, We Know Nobody Loves Them, But... We'll be running fire drills throughout the month. And yes, we understand - nobody wants to pause their learning to stand outside in the Irish weather! But these practices are crucial for making sure we all know exactly what to do if there's ever a real emergency.

Key Things to Remember:

When you hear the alarm, please leave the building immediately - no stopping for that last sip of tea!

  • Follow the green exit signs to your nearest emergency exit

  • Our meeting point has moved to beside the main gate - look for your tutor or Fire Warden

  • If you need additional support during evacuations, please let your tutor know

For Our Evening Students Special attention for our evening learners - we'll be running at least one drill during evening classes to ensure everyone gets a chance to practice the evacuation procedure.

Supporting Learners with Additional Needs We have personalised evacuation plans in place for anyone who needs extra support. If this applies to you, just have a quiet word with your tutor or pop into the office.

Remember - safety is everyone's responsibility. By working together and taking these procedures seriously, we ensure Athy FETC remains a secure and welcoming place for all.

P.S. To our coffee lovers - yes, you can grab another cup when we're back inside!
